WISH SPIRIT KNOT
WISH Spirit KNOT
Tier 2 Horde (1/HP)
A cluster of confused Wish Spirits, their tethers to wish tokens tangled and knotted together in a confounding muddle of contradictory wishes and desires.
Motives & Tactics: Gather up wish tokens, make contradictory changes, give people what the knot thinks they want.
Difficulty: 14 | Thresholds: 10/20 | HP: 5 | Stress: 4
ATK: +2 | Frozen Embrace: Melee | 2d12 mag
FEATURES
Horde (2d6) - Passive: When the Wish Spirit Knot has marked half or more of their HP, their standard attack deals 2d6 magical damage instead.
Confused Wishseekers - Passive: The Knot approaches mortals as they make wishes, eagerly adding those wish tokens to their collection and trying to satisfy multiple wishes at once.
Disentangle - Passive: A PC can attempt a roll to disentangle the Wish Spirit Knot, physically using Finesse, socially using Presence, or magically using their Spellcast Trait. On a success, replace the Wish Spirit Knot with a number of Wish Spirits equal to the Knot’s unmarked HP. Each of these resulting spirits marks a Stress and the GM loses a Fear.
Ephemeral - Passive: The Wish Spirit Knot is resistant to physical damage.
Contradictory Dreams - Action: Mark a Stress as the Knot tries to grant several contradictory wishes at once, warping reality around the Knot. All creatures within Far range must succeed on a Strength Reaction Roll or mark a Stress as reality shifts to try to accommodate mutually- exclusive dreams. If half or more of the PCs fail the roll, gain a Fear.
Shattered Hopes - Reaction: When an attack succeeds against the Wish Spirit Knot, force the attacker to make an Instinct Reaction Roll. On a failure, ask the player to share one of their character’s wishes, then describe how they experience a momentary vision of how it would feel to have that wish thwarted forever and lose a Hope.
Broken Knot - Reaction: When the Wish Spirit Knot marks their last Stress, ask the nearest player to roll their Hope die. If the result is higher than the current Fear count, the strands connecting the Wish Spirit Knot come loose. Replace the Knot with a number of Wish Spirits equal to the Knot’s remaining unmarked HP and each PC within Far range gains 2 Hope.
